By | November 10, 2014

People have gathered in Brussels to rally against Ukrainian fascism and genocide of its Russian speaking population. People were holding flags of DPR and LPR.

DPR and LPR (Donetsk People’s Republic and Lugansk People’s Republic) became part of Ukraine in 1922 when Lenin transferred those territories from Russia to Ukraine. New republics called for independence from Kiev after neo-Nazi groups through violence took control of the government in Kiev in February of this year where multiple police officers and civilian were killed in the process. Radical groups that organized violent overthrow of the government hail from the territories in western Ukraine that allied themselves with Nazi Germany during world war 2. Many of the same sentiments, slogans and tactics from 70 years ago being used by the new nationalist government once again.
