“Mommy, I’m thirsty” – you hear often in Donetsk

“Mommy, I’m thirsty” is a phrase you’ll hear often in Donetsk and neighboring regions. “We don’t talk about politics, Donetsk republic or any philosophical ideas, we’re just thirsty and hungry” – says Donetsk resident on the picture. Her mornings start with search for water and food for her child. Due to constant shelling of the city by Ukrainian armed forces water supply has been interrupted to some regions of the city of Donetsk. This family is really happy to see a loaf of bread. Even when supplies do reach their neighborhood, they still have to be able to get to them which gets harder and harder with increasing attacks on the city.

Child barely leaves the basement in fears that men in military uniform with a Ukrainian flag will kill him and his mom, he cries a lot, hugs his mother a lot.
